I wish to register my apology on behalf of the school, for the manner in which the school was closed on Monday 31 May 2021. The statistics on the ground did not warrant the closure which raised questions, causing unnecessary panic to the KHS Community and beyond. The closure was unfortunate as teaching and learning time was compromised.

I would like to reassure you that learners are back at school. Teachers are teaching. The classrooms were disinfected and everything is back to normal.

According to our statistics, in the past two weeks, two teachers and four learners have tested positive. Due protocol was observed. We wish all of them a speedy recovery and look forward to reuniting with them soon.

I wish to allay the spreading fears and rumours that our school is a COVID-19 super-spreader. We are of course not spared from the effects of this dreadful disease. On Sunday the 30th of May 2021, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa announced the country’s movement to Alert Level 2. Our strength together with the nation remains in following the COVID-19 protocols, guided by the “Schools and School Communities Standard Operating Procedure”. We continue encouraging and reminding our learners and staff to wash their hands, sanitise constantly, practice social distancing and wear their masks at all times.

Please be reminded that spreading fake COVID-19 information remains a criminal offence. We therefore encourage anyone with concerns or enquiries regarding the school and COVID-19 cases to contact the Headmaster.

X. TABA HEADMASTER
